Third Trimester Updated 2 April 2008
We just finished a novel study on “The Call of The Wild” culminating on a major assessment. We saw “The Call of the Wild”as Jack London’s views on the state of man. Man is brutish and will go wild if allowed. We discussed the theme of the novel; from civilized to uncivilized.
I believe the students truly enjoyed the book. We have one more essay to write on the topic and then “The Call of the Wild,” goes off into the sunset.
Then we go into research in conjunction with science and Mr Sames. Students have already started to hone their research skills through a small paper in History. Gold 8 has spent a good deal of time in academic support on History in addition to the core subjects taught. Additionally, those who do not have academic support receive help prior to and after school.
As we wind down students need to be reminded that we still have a great deal of work to do including another novel study. Its still a long way to summer vacation.
