Essential Question:

  • How do scientists present what they learned in an experiment?

Objectives:

  • To know what needs to be done to complete the lab report

Agenda:

Be good.

  • Warm-up: ROTTEN
    • In the front of the room is a decomposition column started a year ago.  It contains what’s left of bagels and corn bread.  If you could choose anything to see how it decomposes, what would it be?
      • You have to choose something
      • No meat, cheese, milk, or any other liquids
  • Find your place on the set of steps below and begin working
  • Steps for completing Lab Report
    • Collect all data, analyze, and write conclusion
    • Type report in required format
    • Read report to one person (listener looks for all parts of the checklist)
    • Have a different person read the report back to you (listen for complete thoughts and good grammar)
    • Revise as needed
    • Save report using the following title format “firstnameDCMMclass”
    • Find Mr. Sames’ little drive and put your lab in the correct folder on the drive
  • FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE ABOVE STEPS
    • Decomposition Columns !!??!??
    • We need a few (about 3 a class) and we need them to contain a variety of materials
    • Supplies and directions in front of class

Homework:

  • MEA set #6 due Monday 1/12/09: mea-set-6
  • Any missing work or quiz grades below 80%
