What’s on the test? Use the following criteria to help you study:

Identify the following for an element (using a Periodic Table):

  • draw a Bohr model (up to 3 energy levels)
  • chemical symbol
  • protons, neutrons, & electrons
  • energy levels & valence electrons
  • metal, nonmetal or metalloid
  • group & period number

Can you explain the following terms in your own words?

  • matter and Energy
  • volume and mass
  • atom and element
  • electron cloud and nucleus
  • neutron, proton, and electron
  • atomic number and atomic mass
  • ion and isotope
  • groups & periods

Write a paragraph explaining how a given example demonstrates the Law of Conservation of Matter

Identify elements from clues given on the periodic table (Who am I? questions).

  • period and groups
  • location of metals, nonmetals & metalloids
