My Bug Experience:
Why I Feel the Way I Do About Bugs
I was about 6 years old when it happened. My brother and I were playing in the woods behind our house. I stepped on a hornets’ nest. I was too afraid to run, or maybe too stupid. For whatever reason, I stayed and fought. Maybe I thought I could kill them all, but they almost killed me. Dad heard my screams and came running. He pulled me from the madness. Dad saved my life. He carried me into the house, swollen and screaming. Mom made a paste of baking soda and water and covered me from head to toe. It felt so cool against the 200 stings that covered my body. When the white mud dried it looked like a cast, which helped pull the poison out of me. Mom saved my life, too. I was in bed for a couple of weeks–it wasn’t pretty. The stings on my body went away, but the scars in my head didn’t. Even today I’m nervous when a bug lands on me and I don’t see it first, or when I have to touch one.
I hope by the end of Expedition218 my fear of bugs will be less than it is now. I don’t what to be a wimp anymore.

I loved your video. Did you guys shoot that yourselves? The close up of the bugs is great because that’s the way I’d rather see them…..on video! I loved all the little legs on the millipede.
I’m not sure about a bug experience. I remember finding a rather juicy looking one in some take-out food I’d ordered in Boston. It was an unpleasant experience to say the least, and I never went back to that place!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your video. I bet you’re having fun with these little critters!!!! Have you named them?
