THIS IS THE ASSIGNMENT FOR “PULLING UP STAKES.” IT IS DUE WEDNESDAY, 4/30 - POST YOUR ANSWER UNDER THE CATEGORY “PULLING UP STAKES”
DO NOT REPLY HERE PLEASE

• I’m sorry I forgot the clipboard with the books to add and delete from the blog, so I’ll have to do that when I return. ¡Lo siento!

• Remember to cut and paste from an Appleworks doc. If you prefer, you can just do this assignment on Appleworks and print it rather than posting it on the blog.

• Choose ONE writing prompt from the A, B, C, D list below. I expect that you will write a couple of paragraphs minimum.

Making a Text to Self Connection:

A. Think back to why and/or how a friendship you now have began. Explain the circumstances that created a connection and led to a friendship.

B. If you have had the experience of being the new kid in school, especially if you immigrated as Adrian did, write about the assumptions and/or misunderstandings that other kids had about you or your background. How did you deal with them?

Show me that you read the story:

C. Chance statements or events are often the start of friendships. In this story, Adrian’s statement that he is from Transylvania sparks several friendships and even gets him a girlfriend. Explain why and how this happened using specific references from the story.

Creative Writing Option:

D. Compose part of a (or a whole) vampire story. It should be at least 3 paragraphs long (and can be as long as you need it to be). Your story should refer to several of the “props” that go with vampire stories (stake, cross, mirror, sunlight, fangs, holy water, drinking blood, etc.).
