Later on in the book, Tally goes to a city called Deigo and she get chaught by the police because she is a Special and they're considered dangerous. Then she was put into the machine to turn back into a Pretty again and then Dr. Cable broke Tally out of the machine. Dr. Cable wasn't a Special anymore, she was just a regular Pretty, Dr. Cable told Tally to use her superhuman-like skills to do good deeds.)
