  1. Jean-Louis Says:

I have read Flush, One Fat Summer and Hoot.

Flush is about a man named Paine Underwood that has a family, a wife, a son and a daughter. Paine lost his mother when he was little so he has a hole in his heart and he feels like if he does good deeds it helps make him feel better. A man named Dusty Muleman owns a boat named the Coral Queen and each night he dumps all the sewage waste into the basin and so Paine knows that the waste kills fish and is unhealthy to swim in. He tried to tell everyone but he didn’t have proof so he went to jail and his son, Noah and his daughter, Abbey did a mission called Royal Flush. They bought a lot of fuschia bottles and flushed it into the tank of the Coral Queen so when Dusty dumps his waste into the basin then it will be seen with the fuschia. Noah and Abbey called the Coast Guard and caught Dusty. There was an association that protects animals and they rewarded Paine with one thousand dollars. One day Dusty’s son, Jasper Jr. and Bull, his friend, were smoking cigars in a storage closet where the fireworks are and set the Coral Queen on fire and Dusty thought it was Paine but it wasn’t and Paine even got six out of his ten knuckles broken smashing his hands on doors. The Underwoods always talked about seeing a green flash at the end of a sunset and at the end of the book they saw it and Abbey even took a picture of it.

One Fat Summer is about a fat kid named Bob who takes a job at a man’s house for one dollar an hour and the man has a lot of nerve. The paper said a dollar an hour and he gradually reduced the pay to fifty cents and so by working Bob gradually lost his fat and grew stronger and skinnier but not too skinnny. Bob gained more assertiveness so he asked the man for a dollar an hour like what the paper mentioned. Bob also had a friend that was a girl and she had an extra long nose so one day she went to the city and surprised Bob with her new nose that was worked on. In the days that Bob worked at the man’s house there was a hooligan named Rummy and Rummy was always fighting and picking on Bob. Bob got stripped of his clothes one day and they brang him to an island in the middle of the sea. One of Rummy’s friend’s came later to get Bob and warned Bob to quit the job because Rummy wanted the same job or Rummy would hurt him. Bob never gave up the job and there was a muscular boy named Pete Marino who swam at the beach Bob lived near. Bob’s sister and Pete fell in love and one day got in trouble with their parents. In the end Rummy points a gun at Pete and Bob warns Pete he’s a sharpshooter because Bob saw him shoot balloons at a fair and he was very good. So what happened was Bob grabbed Rummy and wrestled him underwater for a long time and Bob was a good fighter underwater but Rummy wasn’t so Rummy was gasping for air and threw up on the beach.

Crash is about a boy named John Coogan but surnamed Crash because when he was little he crashed into everything. One day a new neighbor moves into Crash’s neighborhood and his name is Penn Webb and Crash thinks he’s annoying so he mistreats him for a while. One Penn invites him for dinner and he accepts. Not only is Crash not a vegatarian and the Webb’s are but Penn is also a Quaker so when Crash shot him with a water gun he did not retaliate. Penn shows Crash his turtle and his magical mud that his grandfather gave to him. If you add water to the mud and put it on a wound it will heal it so after that Crash never dines with them again. Another new neighbor moves in and his name is Mike. He is like Crash, they both wrestle each other and pick on Penn together. The funny thing is whenever someone’s picking on Penn he doesn’t realize it. When they go to school there is a new girl that Crash likes and she doesn’t really like him but likes Penn because Penn is polite. She is a cheerleader and so is Penn. At a school dance she asks Crash who is he and he replies “I’m the answer to your dreams baby!” One day Penn and the girl go protesting building a mall and they even end up on television. One day Mike writes on a note to Penn that if he doesn’t eat meat in the cafeteria he will never see his turtle again and Crash begins to be nice to Penn and after seeing that he runs to Mike and tells him to give Penn his turtle back. After that Crash is now friends with Penn and the girl.

Hoot is about two boys and a girl who save owls. There’s a boy named Roy who moves a lot and has recently moved from Montana to Florida and he misses Florida. When the bully, Dana Matherson pushes Roy’s face against the window he sees a running boy and he wants to know what he’s doing. Later that day Roy meets a kid named Garrett that is famous for his phony farts. The next day Roy gets bullied again and this time punches the bully and breaks his nose after he runs out the bus he chases the boy and ends up getting hit with a golf ball. The next day he follows the boy again and gets hit again with a golf ball. He gets in trouble for breaking Dana’s nose and gets suspended from the bus. He visits Dana’s house and gives him the apology letter he wrote then leaves and Dana and his mother wrestle to get the letter. Later he finds out the family problem of the Leeps and Beatrice is the running boy’s sister and his surname is Mullet Fingers. His name is a mystery. He does many things like, spray paint a police cruiser’s windows black, puts crocodiles in the latrines, scares off the dogs with the cottonmouth moccassins and gets himself bit fromt he dogs. The supervisor of the construction is Curly and the officer that got his cruiser painted black is David Delinko. He does all those things because he cares about nature and the animals. In the end he stands in front of the bulldozer that Chuck Muckle is driving and says if he buries the owls he’ll have to bury Mullet Fingers too. Then more people stand next to him like Roy and Beatrice and then pancake house cannot build their pancake house in that spot anymore they even donated the area to the owls. In the end Mullet Fingers’ name is in the paper: Napoleon Bridge Leep.

Those are all the books I remember that I read and I spend approximately thirty minutes to an hour reading each day.
