Conflict Assignment
January 20, 2010END OF FIRST BOOK HOMEWORK – PLEASE DO THIS IN WRITING ON WHITE, LINED PAPER
1. Read the definition of CONFLICT and CONFLICT RESOLUTION under literary terms in the pages section of the blog.
2. Using those terms, name the major conflict in this book and briefly explain how it has developed throughout the book (list the major events of the book related to that conflict if that’s easier for you to do).
3. Using information from the end of the book, explain how this conflict is resolved.

Please finish your book by Monday 12/14. If you’re already done, please choose another book from the crate or you may choose the sequel to the one you’re reading if there is one. The next blog entry will be given out Wednesday and due the following Wednesday. Be thinking about why I chose this book for this expedition. How does it tie in?
Start (or continue) a discussion about the themes in your book with your book buddies. I expect that you will mention different ones using that long list I provided. After you name a theme, explain why it applies. Look at what your book buddies said about theme, and respond to what they wrote. I am hoping by next Tuesday, you all will have had a rich discussion about your book. If the discussion veers away from theme, as long as it’s about your book, it’s OK……jcm
Blog Entry due Tuesday 12/1 –
1. Fill in both sides of the character worksheet I gave you.
2. Using the side about the main character, do a mini-character analysis about this character so far in your book.
3. Further clarification: When you analyze a character, you choose two or more adjectives to describe that character’s personality and find examples of actions, thoughts, words or deeds that back up your opinion (why you choose those particular adjectives). You probably won’t use all of the information you wrote on the worksheet.
4. This mini-character analysis should be a MINIMUM OF 100 WORDS.
Hope this helps, jcm
