Dome News
WELCOME TO THE LINCOLN GEODESIC DOME WEBSITE!
The Geodesic Dome was built by Lincoln’s 2006/2007 Blue 8 team the spring of 2007. Students applied physical science and engineering technology concepts to construct the 850 square foot geodesic dome. The dome’s exterior structure was completed the fall of 2007 by Mr. Fournier and Mrs. Driscoll with the help of student, teacher, and community volunteers over the summer and afterschool in the fall.
The landscaping around the dome was completed by Lincoln’s 2007/2008 Blue 8 team the spring of 2008. Landscaping plans were created by Amy Segal, who volunteered many hours of service and help to make our ideas come alive. With help from Portland Public Works and Portland Parks and Recreation and volunteers from Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, parents, staff, and community volunteers, students completed a lovely walking path around the dome made with recycled materials, 7 raised planting beds, 2 habitat gardens and planting areas for native bushes and plants. To see updates of the outdoor gardens, please visit our garden page developed by Lincoln’s Art Teacher, Nancy Sanchez. http://blogs.portlandschools.org/garden
