Conferences January 30, 2008

Parent conferences begin soon in some schools and will be held by the end of March for all. As you consider your student’s progress this year, here are a few questions to guide the conversation.
1.) How is my child being challenged and making progress?
2.) Do you think my child is rising to the challenges being presented?
3.) How is my child’s curriculum being differentiated (in the academic area of identification) to meet his/her needs when appropriate and necessary?
If you have further questions, please contact your Chapter 104 consultant at the STAFF link to the right.
Summer Camp January 29, 2008

Hello Chapter 104 parents,
One goal of Chapter 104 is to inform parents of opportunities for their children. At a recent meeting with the a representative from the Maine School of Science and Math in Limestone, we were made aware of an exciting summer camp for students in grades 5-9.
“Summer X” is in its 11th year and offers “an exhilarating exploration of math, science, and technology for middle school students”. There are a variety of classes, changing each year, as well as multiple “traditional” camp activities throughout the day.
If you are interested in learning more, you can call the Maine School of Science and Math (MSSM) at 800-325-4483, email at sumex at mssm.org, or write to 95 High St., LImestone, ME 04750. You can also visit the MSSM website at http://www.mssm.org/, although the 2008 summer camp schedule is not yet posted on their website. I have a few fliers available, and am glad to get one to you if you’re interested.
Chapter 104 is in no way promoting this summer camp, but since it may be of interest to some of our students, we wanted to pass on the information.
