Both Java and Eclipse are free to download and use, so you can install them on your computer at home (or on a laptop, if you prefer to use your laptop in class). To use Java and Eclipse at home, do the following:
First, download and install Java: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/?intcmp=1281 . Click on the top download (JDK 6 Update 3) You can do the default installation.
Then, download and install Eclipse from eclipse.org. There’s a big “Download Eclipse” button at the top of the page.
