It’s a miracle! I have had two days of slick and smooth iKeepBookmarks, the way it ought to be with our deluxe, super-speedy subscription. CTS intervention? iKeepBookmarks cleaning up its act? Whatever and however, let’s keep this going - I don’t know if anyone will read this but I’ll just keep at it. TGIF! J.

Fellow BTCs: Submitted this to our BTC Groupwise mailbox a couple of days ago and no response so far. So, decided to put this on our BTC blog hoping someone out there has a magic solution for me ….. even though it was an “up” kind-of-a-day for iKeepBookmarks. Anyone out there?

http://ww2.iKeepBookmarks.com/reiche_elementary_school

iKeepbookmarks has been extremely unreliable since school started! Teachers just can’t rely on it anymore and this after an entire year of rebuilding and promoting the use of it both in- and outside school! I don’t know whether this problem is on our side or theirs but my guess is the latter. Here’s the problem: in the past I was able to get to iKBmarks with Firefox when Safari failed but Firefox is not working great either or let’s just say, differently this year (Firefox interface has changed as well …).

At this point I’m really thinking seriously about copying all my Reiche iKBmarks over to Del.icio.us so that I can use our bookmarks library again. Here’s the problem: the only way to get to Del.icio.us is through the authentication, Novell, login. So, if I want to use Del.icio.us as an iKBmarks back-up, the “world” will need to use my novel username & password. We have a Reiche teacher who is in that pickle - she built her own bookmarks d’base with Del.icio.us and can’t use it with her class.

Q1: Is there a way to free up Del.icio.us so that teachers who have a Del.icio.us account can use it with their students?
Q2: If that is not possible, is there a way to establish a second log-in for teachers with D accounts that can be shared with others? I.e. lee/ppsd or reiche/ppsd or whatever.

I’m waiting to hear from Jay. Any suggestions? Let me know what you’re thinking.

We are the group of dedicated, industrious, energetic technology go-to people at each school site within the Portland Public Schools! Most of us in this group have well over 10 years of experience in this position; we hold a living history of the development and advancement of the use of technology across this large district.
We support the staff of our schools as they incorporate the use of our available hardware and software into their daily practices. We work in concert with the Computer Technology Services department from our Central Office; we are unique in that we understand the overwhelming amount of work there is to be done…. on BOTH sides of the network. In fact we often are found advocating for our teachers and staff on one hand, while simultaneously representing our technicians and network administrators on the other.
Our job descriptions can be found here. (You may have to scroll a bit.)
The description cannot be taken at face value however; most of us also take care of all the items listed under the heading “Responsibilities do NOT include.”
Our membership is listed on our About page.
Thank you for visiting. Please feel free to post comments here.
