Fire Safety Week

October 23rd, 2008

Fire Safety Week had us all stop, drop and roll! We learned how to exit a smoke filled room and how to reach the firefighters in an emergency. Do you have a family plan if a fire should break out at your home? Do you have two exits available? Do you have a meeting place for your family? Be sure you have replace the batteries in the smoke detector every year, too.

Firefighters Vince, Chris and Justin gave us a tour of the Bramhall Firehouse on October 21.

All about apples!

October 23rd, 2008

From tasting to picking and even baking our very own pies, we had a great time learning all about apples! Starting from seeds and growing into trees, we learned how the fruit grows from the pink and white apple blossoms in Spring. Growing silently all summer long, the bright red and yellow and green apples emerge in Fall ripe for the picking. On October 8 we visited Snell’s Family Farm in Buxton, Maine. http://www.snellfamilyfarm.com/. See how many apple varieties your child knows …

Butterflies!

October 23rd, 2008

In September we learned about the life cycle of the butterfly. We were lucky enough to witness three of the stages in our very own class! After adopting several painted lady caterpillars we watched as they transformed into chrysali and emerged as beautiful painted lady butterflies.

What we have been up to!

October 23rd, 2008

Hello and welcome to Mr. Brewster’s Kindergarten classroom.  We have been very busy making friends and exploring our space. A lot of our time is spent in the classroom library exploring new books or in the computer lab practicing letters and sounds at www.starfall.com. The best part of our day, however, is still recess! and that includes Mr. Brewster!
