Today the students took an assessment on adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. They needed more time with this so we will be continuing tomorrow.

The students are working on their plot diagrams. They picked a short story and are making a plot diagram (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) about the story. These will be on display at our Celebration of Learning in May.

The students have been working all week on subtracting mixed numbers with unlike denominators. Next week they will be taking an assessment on the work they have studied.

The students have started work on their plot diagrams. The students are to read a short story and develop a plot diagram to that story. We are nearing the half-way point in Holes and the kids love it. I love reading it with them!

Today we started working on subtracting mixed numbers that involve improper fractions. The students struggled a bit, but will surely understand it with some more practice.

Hello all. The St. Patrick’s Day reading was a success. The students posed some thought provoking questions for the audience to ponder. Thank you to all of the people who came and were willing participants.
We are continuing Holes in class. Tonight’s homework assignment is to write a letter to any character in the story from any character.

It’s been a long time since we have had a regular class (with the MEAs and a few weeks of MEA prep), but today we are back in business with Mathscapes. We are starting our unit on adding and subtracting mixed numbers.

The students are going to begin writing Irish limericks today to read during our Festival of Reading on the 17th. This promises to be a fun activity where the students will be able to show off their hard work. If time permits, they will also be reading their persuasive essays.

We have finished the MEAs. The students all did a great job working on them. We are finishing up our persuasive essays today and will be moving onto writing Irish limericks next week.

We have finished up the MEAs. The students were all well-behaved and put forth a great deal of effort. We will be spending the next two days reviewing adding and subtracting fractions and then move onto multiplying fractions.
