The students have been working on reducing fractions and cross multiplying. After vacation we will be working on multiplying mixed numbers.

The students will be moving into writing short stories to books without words after vacation. The library has a great selection of these books and I can not wait to read the creativity that the students come up with.

We have been working on solving fractions of fractions this week.
Example 1/3 of 2/5 is 2/15. The students have been making visuals to accompany their work.

Today the students took an assessment on adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. They needed more time with this so we will be continuing tomorrow.

The students are working on their plot diagrams. They picked a short story and are making a plot diagram (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) about the story. These will be on display at our Celebration of Learning in May.
