The students have spent the past two days adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. We started this process by using cuisinaire rods and a number line. The students are now able to do this without the use of manipulatives.

The students finished up a math quiz today in class on changing improper fractions to mixed numbers, putting fractions in order, and equivalent fractions. Tomorrow we will be discussing finding “sums” of denominators in fractions. Later in the week we will be moving into adding fractions.
