The students finished reading Holes two weeks ago! The book was enjoyed by all. This was a lengthy book and I am proud of the student for persevering through it. We watched the movie version last week and we are currently working on our reflections and a comparison between the book and the movie.
Today the students will begin learning the concept of dividing fractions. I am happy to announce that we are on lesson 18 (out of 20) in our pilot Mathscapes program. I anticipate that we will be finished with our first Mathscapes unit in two weeks. We will have a celebration to mark this occasion.
The students have been working on reducing fractions and cross multiplying. After vacation we will be working on multiplying mixed numbers.

The students are contuing to work on their plot diagrams. These are near completion and will be on display at the Celebration of Learning on May 7th. Last week we took a walk out to the new dome.
