Full Notes (paraphrased):

Lisa sent all of us some writing prompts to use in class when we are not working with her or with Bo.

Today Bo worked with Commercial Art, Music and Dance. We spent some time talking about student reactions to the work. Generally, people feel that it is beneficial. Some classes are more comfortable working together than others.

This Wednesday is late arrival for Bonny Eagle, so we probably won’t have Bonny Eagle kids here in Video and Graphic Arts to do the first phase of the HOME project. Bo is happy to run an extra session for students who were absent. E-mail Bo with names of students, and he will set something up.

This Thursday will be a short meeting for all in the hallway at 8:15 and 11:15. At this point, all classes will have completed the first session of the HOME project.

Service Learning for PATHSFest: we’re thinking of applying for a Service Learning grant to pay for PATHSFest. What would the money be for? King Middle School does this kind of thing every time an expedition is done without a grant.

As we continued with the discussion of "what would we need the money for?", Tom urged us to think about doing a service for some community group that would come to PATHSFest. A new idea of PATHSFest emerged: you arrive at PATHSFest and get a "festival schedule" that lists different locations and tells you what’s going on in each time segment at each location. Programs could decide to offer mini-mini-courses so that community members could get a hands-on experience of what we do here at PATHS.

If we do PATHSFest this way, we could invite employment agencies to come to PATHSFest, and get together with Adult Ed. Students could teach minicourses or give presentations.

Tom’s fab tagline: "PATHS: this is our home, this is what we do." :-)

Grant $ would be used for:

  1. marketing (poster, publicity)
  2. materials for course offerings
  3. materials for festival T shirts
  4. printing costs for festival schedule

We need to write a grant with Tina, and get the word out during the staff meeting this week. Phil will run the idea by Dana & Brian and see whether we can get on the agenda for the staff meeting.

We also need to recruit a student from each session to serve on a PATHSFest panel. Also, Diane has a second-session student who will be setting up a table in the hall to tell students about grants available for students through YOUTHINK.

On Wednesday we will disuss the Service Learning grant for PATHSFest.
