Full Notes (paraphrased):
The Met School visit: John Marcigliano has submitted an application for the visit.
Phil distributed copies of his idea for the A.A.R.A.T. timeline, which Vicky added to the large timeline sheet. He explained the difference between the "developmental mission statement" or "interim mission statement" (a statement about our vision and where we are going now) and the "mission statement" (a statement about what the academy is actually like, written in the future).
In addition to a mission statement, we need an "elevator speech" that all of us will memorize and use to talk about the work that we’re doing. It needs to be short, concise, and clear. Elizabeth will start us off by writing one.
Starting the timeline brought up a few questions around the themed expedition and around CBHS.
CBHS: do we want to integrate with CBHS at all? What about if they move elsewhere? When do we want to talk to them? (January) We need to develop an agenda for a CBHS meeting so we have specific things to discuss (literacy, english/math, etc.) Note: Next Tuesday, CBHS reports to the community on what their plans are around literacy/readiness for their Juniors and Seniors.
Themed Expedition: we need to get Lisa DiFranza involved soon to plan the expedition. We’d have to take one of our weekly meetings and make that planning time for the expedition, because we need time to make it work.
Once we have a complete timeline, we can prioritize items and decide where to put our planning time.
Next meeting: Monday, December 11th, due to a Thursday meeting with the Portland Concert Association.
