Full Notes (paraphrased):
Our next meeting won’t be until November 27th, due to Vicky being out this Thursday (and Phil being in Turkey Hell) and next week’s parent-teacher conferences and Thanksgiving.
We had a short recap of the timeline that we did on November 1st.
Interviews for the school literacy specialist are this Thursday. There are a good number of applicants.
We spent some time matching the timeline items to the items on the lists from the Visioning Night. "Literacy added to curriculum" was expanded to be "an expansive and interdisciplinary curriculum that includes literacy."
Elizabeth will take the sheets, type them up, and organize them by the timeline headings. Then we can start to prioritize them. At first glance, we have a lot of items that relate to curriculum.
We had a short discussion of curriculum sharing. We need to be able to track our curriculum sharing better, and that means we need more planning time so that we know exactly what’s in each class’s curriculum and how we could combine different curriculum items for each student. (we need to work on "intentional sharing" vs. just swapping students). What we’re working toward is an individual learning plan for each student (IEPs for all!) This means we need to think about the following:
how to align our curricula to the learning results, possibly in areas we hadn’t previously considered, such as Math
how to incorporate Math and literacy learning results into our curricula.
John will write a proposal to the MET school (in Providence) to see whether we can get a group rate and send some people there to visit.
