Full Notes (paraphrased):

The meeting opened with Jane describing her plans for an Arts Academy window display in the window of Vicky’s [Music] classroom. Her students are currently working with Goodwill to produce Hallowe’en costumes. They are also working on window displays/backdrops. The display will be up during the Visioning Night and will be taken down on Thursday to go to Goodwill. Anyone who wants to put something in the display should give it to Jane by Monday morning.

Elizabeth would like a digital camera so that she can periodically visit classes and take pictures that might be good for publicity. There are a number of different cameras available for her use in the cluster. We need to make sure we know which students do not wish to be photographed. The pictures would also be useful for the newsletter and for the redesigned school Web site.

We need more names for the contact list that Elizabeth is setting up. Everyone should give Elizabeth 5 names to add to the list. Contacts can be artists, educators, business/community members, parents who would really care about the Academy and work to support it. A short description of each contact ("so-and-so is a community supporter who gave $500 to the dance program in 2000…") would be extremely helpful for the database.

Short discussion of the CBHS Craft fair on Saturday, November 18th: Vicky has reserved a table for the Arts Academy, but isn’t sure we’ll use it. It sounds like some programs already have plans for their own tables. However, it would be nice to do a raffle of some special item. Vicky will look into a bird carving by a well-known artist. Other suggestions? All money from the raffle would go towards a Student Activities fund for the whole group (such as $ towards a Creative Writing workshop for students from all classes).

Highlights of Argy Nestor’s upcoming 10/17 visit: she will be touring classrooms from 9:30-10:30. At 10:30 anyone who wants to have lunch with her should bring your lunch to the Music Room. If you want to order lunch from the café, please talk to Phil.

Phil distributed a copy of our short-term and long-term goals, from last year’s visioning. We will discuss these at the next meeting. We should start brainstorming things that we could do with the new academy. Please document any curriculum sharing that is going on! We need to be showing people that integration is easy, so we can say "this is how we do it", and produce examples in writing, videotape, or photos.
