Illegal Immigration

Do you think the United States Government should be so hard on immigrants? Should we kick them out of the country if they are caught? How has immigration changed since the first immigrants arrived in America? Why do you think it has changed so drastically? What would the effect be on the US Economy if all “illegal aliens” were thrown out?

If we threw out all the illegal immigrants people don’t realize how much the economy would be effected. The immigrants take all the low paying, hard labor jobs that nobody wants.

  2.

you know Barry, I never thought of it that way, you are right.

  3.

Yeah, Barry you are right. There are 21,522,654 illeagal immigrants in America, and what will happen if we throw all of the illeagal immmigrants out? Who will take the jobs?

  4.

Our nation would be a complete mess without the illegal immigrants. I mean if you think about it, we are all illegal immigrants. We never applied for visas. Nor did our great great great grandparents when they moved here. I don’t think that the government understands what a big role illegal immigrants play in our economy. They’re the glue that holds us together. They’re the ones that make the United States succeed. But they never get recognition. T_T

HEY AMERICA! no illegals, no burritos.

  5.

we need em without em the U.S. is incomplete

  6.

Ben how do you know that there are exactly 21,522,654 immigrants?

  7.

he looked it up, it’s true

i think that if we didn’t have llegal immigrants we would have nothing to talk to and we wouldn’t have new things to try. if we didn’t have them what fun would it be if the smugled fireworks never went of on the forth of july.
    THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE!!!!!! TT_TT

  9.

use spell check. or not even. proof read. so i don’t have to rethink what you’re saying.

    thanks a lot.

  10.

We have plenty to talk about other than illegal immigrants, they’re not our world, what are you talking about? Besides, this is about whether it should be legal or not, not how cool they are.

  11.

and honestly, illegal immigration isn’t the only thing we talk about.

  12.

    OH WILLIAM!!! I love you.

You’re exactly right. They’re not our world but they make us who we are.

But Kaitlin, what do you mean “cool”?

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU MEAN.

Neither does my friend Will. Who happens to be right..most of the time.

  13.

Illegal Immigration make our lives easier. Without them the United States wouldn’t be so easy to live in. I bet we would still be a “developing country” without the illegal immigrants. They take the jobs no one wants. They came here for a reason. They came to start over and im not saying this as a fact. But Iam an immigrant but I am LEGAL ^_^hehe. But it’s people don’t realize how important these people are to us.

  14. Alexandra Says:

I personally think that illegal immigrants should be thrown out if they were caught.
    they are here ILLEGALLY.
if they want to be here so bad they should get here LEGALLY.
this is something that I have a connection with and I think that they should definatly be be harder on illegal immigrants.
Especially illegal immigrants that have completed crimes.

  15.

Ok, Alexandra, let’s take this example. You are a refugee in Sudan. Trying to escape war. You can’t wait for a visa to the United States. But you have the opportunity to come to the USA illegally. Either you jump the ship or die in Sudan, what would you do?

And not all illegal immigrants leave their homes because of crime! Most leave because of war, sickness, or need of job.

You tell me, should that be illegal?

What about originally? We all are illegal immigrants. Our ancestors went through Ellis Island. But so what? I don’t think its fair to throw out the hardest workers of this country.

If we do, well the US Economy will fail miserably.

  16.

    Kaitlin:
    Fireworks?
Is that all you have to talk about here?
    Let’s hear some actual debate.

  17. Alexandra Says:

    Erika:
For your first point about the Sudan, I think that they can come here as long as they try to get a visa, or become a citizen.
And I’m not saying that all illegal immigrants leave their home because of crime.
I’m saying that if they come here illegally, then commit a crime here, then they DEFINITELY should be deported.
I don’t get what you mean about us all being illegal immigrants,
I think that they should get here legally,
But if all your concerned about is the economy they should take out the illegal and make anyone be allowed to just walk into the United States without consequence.
    Thats what your saying.

  18.

yep that is what I’m saying.

who wouldn’t want to be in the USA?

why do we have to apply for a visa and wait…for a long time to get here..for a short amount of time??

  19. Alex Thompson Says:

I think that illegal immigrants should be allowed to be in the United States. Even though illegal immigrants are obviously illegal, like Ben Alcorn said, we already have a lot of illegal immigrants already here. I think that also since we have alot of immigrants, it probably helps our job fields. The number that Ben said I found very large. If we found out who all of the immigrants were, we would be losign a lot of jobs in America.

  20.

Because then thousands, maybe millions of people would flood to the Unites States and it would be way too overpopulated.

Do you really want to walk down the streets and see hundreds of people sleeping on the roads?

  21.

    Erika:

If letting everyone just walk right into the United States is such a good idea, why is there a law against it?

  22.

Easy. We’re a paranoid society. We don’t trust anyone but our government who lies over and over again.

But to Alexandra and Megan; do you not understand the fact that if illegal immigrants were to be kicked out of the US our economy would FAIL. Who would do the dirty work? I bet you that you two wouldn’t volunteer manufacturing and packaging meat.

  23.

I never said all illegal immigrants should be kicked out right now. I actually don’t think they should.

  24.

First of all I would not volunteer to package meat becuase im a vegetarian.

Do you not get that they are here ILLEGALLY?
There would be more jobs for people who are here LEGALLY if they weren’t here.
And I’m not saying that they shouldn’t be here, I’m saying that they should get here legally.
I say either kick them out or get rid of the law and have the United States be overpopulated and not enough jobs for everyone.

By letting them stay your saying its OK to break the law.
So everyone might as well go rob a building, or sell drugs, to kill someone and get get away with it.

  25. Alexandra Says:

Oops, the one above was from me.
Megan was posting on my computer and i forgot to change it.
    sorry

  26.

WHO WOULD TAKE THOSE JOBS? THAT’S MY POINT!

I’m saying that the majority of illegal immigrants take the jobs that American Citizens would never take. The jobs that we need to have or our nation would fail. And Megan COME ON! It’s not just the illegal immigrants who sell drugs. It’s the American Citizens because they know that maybe they’ll go to jail, but they’re not risking their homes.

I think that your view isn’t as open as it could be. Think about it. Illegal Immigrants are smart to the point where they would choose not to do something illegal because they know they’ll get caught and thrown out.

Incase you didn’t know, the US Government is pretty good at catching criminals. Even if they’re here illegally. And if you’re complaining about there not being enough jobs, I’m sorry but there are. Look in the up and coming fields. Just because there might be an overwhelming amount of people who are entering the law field, doesn’t mean that there is a shortage of jobs.

And you being vegetarian doesn’t have anything to do with it. What if packaging meat was the only job offered to you and you were a single mother in LA with 4 kids? How would you earn money?

Let’s try and THINK about the consequences and try to look at the positive side of this issue. Without them we’re nothing.

  27.

Then change all those Megans to Alexandras if that makes you feel any better.

  28.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a vegetarian when it comes to packaging meat, you’re not eating it first. You’d get fired if you did that.

    Just throwing that our there

  29.

Only that one was from Alexandra under my name. The rest weren’t. It’s not a big deal. Just keep in mind that one comment wasn’t from me.

  30. Alexandra Says:

First of all Erika, that post was from me, even though it says Megan.
    I forgot to change it.

Second of all I’m not saying only illegal immigrants sell drugs.
Thats not even CLOSE to what I’m saying.

I’m saying that if the governments going to let some people break the law, then why not let everyone break the law. If some people get away with it, why cant other people just go kill someone and get away with it.

And I’m not saying theres a shortage of jobs now,
I’m saying that if just anyone can walk on in to the United States we are going to wayy to overpopulated and THEN there won’t be enough jobs.

If I was a single mother in LA with 4 kids I would take a job that I went to college for. Because I do intend on going to college.

Without them we are still America! How can you say we are nothing without them? That is soo false.

  31. Alexandra Says:

    At Jack:
I’d rather be fired than have to deal with meat.
But this has nothing to do with the topic, so lets drop it.

  32.

HAHAA! False? Alright, yes we’re America, but is that REALLY something to be proud of? You can make that judgement. Because I feel strongly enough to say that this country sickens me. I just don’t think you’re getting my points. That’s fine with me because one day when the government decides to throw out all illegal immigrants you’ll see the negative impact it has on our society. Lucky for me, I won’t because I will not be residing in the USA.

  33. Alexandra Says:

    OK, good for you.
    I’m standing by my views.
And I never said I was proud to be in America.
I just said the US would still be the US without illegal immigrants.

  34.

    A weaker more dependent US.

  35.

    Wouldn’t it be less dependent?
Because we wouldn’t be depending immigrants any more.

  36.

    Ohhh! I’ve read that.

It’s really not just because of job opportunities why illegal aliens come to the US. Read it.

    Or this one is just as good;

    http://www.legal-immigration.com/

READ UP ON THE TOPIC please.

  37.

    Erika:

“Illegal Immigrants are smart to the point where they would choose not to do something illegal because they know they’ll get caught and thrown out.”

I completely disagree. I’m not saying that illegal immigrants aren’t smart, but many of them DO commit crimes. I read somewhere that over 25% of people in federal prison are illegal aliens.

  38.

    Megan:
You should probably start educating yourself, instead of listening everything your parents tell you.

  39.

Forming your own opinions sometimes frees yourself from the “norm”

You feel freedom when you speak YOUR mind.

If you always listen to someone, then how are you going to survive down the road. Sometimes you need to make your own decisions and opinions.

  40.

    To Megan:

Did that someone who told you that 25 percent of prisioners in federal prison are illegal aliens read this?

“Kristin Butcher of Boston College and Anne Morrison Piehl of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, using 1980 and 1990 Census Public Use Microdata Samples, found that among men aged 18-40 immigrants were less likely to be in correctional institutions than the native-born.”

  41.

Barry: In my comment it said I READ somewhere that 25% of people in US federal prisons are illegal immigrants, nobody told me that. And also Barry, it said 25% of people in US federal prisons are illegal immigrants. So OBVIOUSLY there are more legal US citizens in prison than illegal immigrants.
