So yeah.
Hooray for gays.
If they really want to commit themselves to each other for the rest of their lives (which, in my eyes, is a stupid decision even for heterosexual couples), then by all means, they should have the right to go right ahead.
It's the same logic I spoke of earlier on the blog about polygamy: Everybody has the right to get married if both (or all) of the partners agree.

It's so important to have a voice. You kids have really impressed me since I've been here. You've shown me that the majority of you have respect for others, no matter their differences. You "get" that everyone has the right to be respected and receive the same courtesy in return. You've shown tolerance and self control when others may have been quick to judge or snap. That's hard to do at any age and I know a lot of you have had to put up with more than your share of "stuff". I hope you'll always stand up for what you believe in and absolutely disagree when need be. Good luck!

Power to the people.

Barry I agree with you 100%

Everyone has the right to say what they want, but they need to be aware that those things could be said back to them,

I agree with both Taylor and Sofi. Like Sofi said, this is a blog and people are obviously going to disagree with people, that's what makes a blog a blog. Like Taylor said, Charlie has the rights to believe in what he thinks gay rights should be. But that does not mean that we have to agree with him.

Thanks :)

Mrs. Beaudet

I am just trying to make sure that the blog is open for everyone to express their opinions.

I am not trying to make anyone feel bad, I didn't even respond to Charlie's original comment. I don't make posts on the blog to put someone down. I make posts on the blog to alert people that other people feel differently. I agree that some people are being hurtful regarding religious beliefs but, they also have the right to say what they want. Everyone needs to watch what they say, and not be disrespectful.

Ms. Beaudet:
We have as much right to verbally "slam" Charlie as he does us.
Without that kind of debate, how would this even be an argument?
This isn't a "let's agree with and voice our own slightly different but somehow the same opinions" blog.
This is a debate blog, and it should stay that way.

Charlie, let's hear your input.
Are you feeling slammed?

Ms. Beaudet:
Yes, Charlie does have the right to speak his religious beliefs and all other beliefs he has. But you must remember this is a blog so people are here to argue with each other on their views.
Now on the topic,
Homosexuals----No, maybe thats what they are but they don't have to be called that. We can call them people.
Everyone should have the right to be with whoever that want to be with and if they are the same sex than thats okay as well.
Equal rights to all!

I totally agree that you have the right to disagree with others and express your own opinions here. But, when rereading the EXPECTATIONS (capitalized because that's how it appears on the initial blog page), I noted, "respect others who are blogging", "No personal attacks" and "Be open and understanding to other's opinions......". Saying someone is "completely wrong", "hurtful", "completely ignorant" in regards to one's religious beliefs (even questioning one's religious beliefs as to whether or not God even exists) doesn't sound like they're following the guidelines to me. Saying, "I disagree because...." and not making personal attacks would be the way to phrase it and keep with "expectations". As for God and global warming, the Bible is up for interpretation, but some say that subject is dealt with in the Book of Revelations. In my position at KMS, it would be inappropriate for me to discuss religion any further than I already have (regarding the other comments). So Barry, any contradictions? : )

Mrs. Beaudet

Charlie has the right to say whatever he wants, but if we are not allowed to disagree with him, we are being restricted of our free speech. So, you are contradicting yourself in the same sentence.

No one was "Slamming him" we have an opinion too and should be able to express it freely as he has done, but there is and equal if not more people that don't believe that "God" exists. Sure "God" didn't intend for homosexual people to get married, but did "God" intend for Global Warming? If "God" wanted a perfect place wouldn't he have made world peace?
