What if the person in a coma is too young to have written consent to be put down? What if they were mentally retarded, legally insane, or had some other disorder which prevented them from thinking clearly?
Then it becomes a moral issue.
Personally, I believe that if a person is in a coma for a certain amount of time, they should be put down, regardless of whether they are documentedly sane.

I think that it should be legal to preforme doctor assisted suicide. I think that it is your own personal choice. personaly I would want to keep living untill I die by somthing or somone. I wouldn’t want to take my own life or give somone permission to take it. I do beleive that people have the choice to do it though. I think they should have somone try to talk them out of it beforehand, but if they are really hurting and just want to die I think it can be done. I do not think it is ok to pull the plug on somone in a coma. The only way that should be done is if they had wrote somthing beforehand that said that if they were ever in a coma for a certain amount of time they should pull the plug.

I think that doctor assisted suicide should be legal. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with someone wanting to die. Like Erika’s first comment said “I believe that if a person wants to die, they have the right to. That’s why there is such thing as suicide.” If someone wants to die then they should be able to die. I think that if the certain person’s doctor or doctor’s wouldn’t do the process on them, then the person could just do it themselves. I know everyone mostly doesn’t like hearing the word “suicide” but it is a reality and it is happening obviously in today’s world. Yes Taylor and Erika, I do agree with your point on the religion aspect.

Doctor Assisted Suicide should be 100% legal.
I don’t see anything wrong with people choosing when they die. It is however different from suicide. This option should only be utilized if and when this person is suffering of a medical cause. Like when they are on their death beds.
Your life means you do what you want with it, and even death.
And Erika brought up an excellent point for those of you who are religious. Taking life is a sin, but what if that was the “higher power” ’s plan for you?
Legalize.

If the person is no longer a functioning, contributing member of society, then away with them.
This may sound caustic, and malicious even for me, but…
If you put some real thought into it, would you want to be kept alive for years well after the point at which you should have died?
